Charlene Porter graduated from The Robert Gordon University in 2005 with an honours degree in Biosciences with Biomedical Science.  Prior to starting her PhD, Charlene worked as a Research assistant for the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service performing techniques such as DNA extraction, placental perfusion and Flow Cytometry.

Her SAFE PhD will be aimed towards analysis of placental DNA, RNA & protein, contained in syncytiotrophoblast membrane vesicles (STBM’s) under the supervision of Dr Sylvia Armstrong-Fisher, Professor Neil Avent & Professor Stan Urbaniak.
