Dr Wendy Heywood graduated Molecular Genetics at Kings College London. She then undertook a PhD at the Institute of Child Health London (ICH) in Nutritional programming of glucose metabolism. After a period as a post doc at University College London (UCL) looking at bacterial cytotoxins Wendy took time out to travel and returned to ICH to work on WP3 as part of the Biochemistry group in the Clinical and Molecular Genetics Unit. She focuses on the development and implementation of proteomic techniques on maternal plasma. Her current research involves looking for biomarkers for aneuploidies using modern proteomic techniques such a 2D Differential Gel Electrophoresis, protein chip technology and protein identification and sequencing using mass spectrometry. |
